I am a predominantly lens based artist, but I also value transdisciplinary art and the various possibilities and outcomes that intersection and collage inspire. … The theme of uncovering beauty in the mundane while celebrating life's essence with authenticity is the common thread woven into all of my work.

Angelo’s background: From April 9, 2008 to April 2011, Angelo Lopez was the regular cartoonist for the Tri-City Voice, a local newspaper of the Milpitas, Fremont, and Union City areas in California.  From December 2011 to March 2023, Angelo Lopez was the regular cartoonist for the Philippine News Today, a Filipino American community newspaper based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Angelo Lopez won the 2016 Robert F. Kennedy Book and Journalism Award for Editorial Cartoons. He has also won the 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018 Sigma Delta Chi award for editorial cartooning for newspapers with a circulation under 100,000. Angelo won first prize for the Best of the West contest in 2016 and third prize in 2017.

Angelo about Angelo: I am a cartoonist and a fine artist who has been deeply influenced by cartoons and children's book illustrations.  My early heroes were cartoonists like Charles Schulz, Jack Kirby, Bill Watterson as well as children's book illustrators like Maurice Sendak, Garth Williams, John Tenniel, who had these great pen and ink styles.  During college, I acquired a love of a wider group of fine artists.  But I never lost my love of the great pen and ink cartoonists and artists.
