The Secrets of Seemingly Simple Paper Mâché
Classes That Will Totally Change How You Think About Paper Mâché
You may be thinking, you made paper mâché’ in elementary school, what’s there to know? Well, over the years so much about materials and methods has changed.
On Wednesday August 9th (10 AM to noon) learn about the importance of starting with the correct armature for your project. Then have the hands-on, fun experience of making your own armatures from materials your instructor, Carole Cameron, and you have collected around your households—clothes hangers, empty plastic bottles, popsicle sticks, styrofoam and other packing materials.
On Thursday August 10 (10 AM to noon) instructor Julie Cline will demonstrate how to apply the paper mâché material to an armature. Next, you will cover your armatures, while listening to a brief overview of the history of paper mâché and discussing what is craft vs. what is art.
Return on August 17 to paint your project—after it has dried thoroughly—with instructor Barbara Gottesman.
Fee: $85. ($75 EVA and VACA members) - All materials provided,
